Farwell

Thank you for following this blog. I regret to say that the beginning of 2012 means the end of WHICH PRINTER.
It’s been a great way to connect, share and engage with the world and the people in it. SO THANK YOU!
I am taking this year to focus on the studio and a NEW project entitled I.M.Migration.
I am not completely gone from the web, visit edwigecharlot.com to see what I’m up to. Au revoir.

In the studio again
Who knew getting exactly what you wanted could be so challenging?
I am living the dream of a 24/7 studio practice.
It must start somewhere,
i forget how it goes.
It come close to sleep, a step away from dream land
That need, that itch to make.
But i forget what it like, to be in it
Immersed, submerged
and soaked into it.
Locked Studio, recap
What do you do when you happen to be locked out of studio? A) Do you sleep where you are? B) Do cry for help? C) Do you make the best of it? D) Update your website? E) Sleep it off?
Answer is none of the above, i decided to respond the locked door by opening a window.
Sitting at the studio window gave me a chance to reflect on that has happened since graduating last spring. It is crazy to think that I have been out of school for over a year. Where did the time go!?

news flash
carving and packing
Forget spring cleaning! Winter is upon upon and I’m fighting the cold and the dark, gray days with some much needed organizing and sorting. What started with some work around the house as led to a reconsideration of how and what I use the space I have. I plan on shedding a lot of materials, furniture and “things” in the next few weeks. My goal is to have a neat home and studio before the first of spring. Wish me luck!

wood drafts
snapshots from the studio, new relief works
It’s the beginning of the year, my best and worst time to create. As a creature who lives off of the sun, this time of year in Maine can be really hard. The gray and even greyer days aren’t energizing and the cold wind is depressing. BUT it’s the conditions I need to get cozy, focused and produce, produce, produce.
It seems the colder and darker it gets the more time I spend carving, thinking about and making work. Instead of holing up this winter, I am going to dedicate time to practicing and honing my craft.
open doors to a studio

Gulp!
This turkey day started out like every other- full of stress, but by the end of the week I had the yucks and a smile.
I was thankful this holiday for some many people, those who took care of artwork, those who painted, de-installed, rerouted, compromised, re-asseted and forgave. I rested a lot for once during one of the times of the year that I find the most stressful.
so thank you everyone! ox
Over the bug and straight to the studio, it is this week.
I’m excited and nervous invite one and all to the the Artist Studio Building‘s annual open studio. Our quiet, hidden work spaces will be open on First Friday December 3rd from 5 to 8 at 536 Congress street. You can enjoy SHOP-A-DO downstairs at SPACE Gallery and the MECA holiday sale next door at the Maine College of Art. Hope to see you!
